Sponsored Walk and Read

To cap off a wonderful year, Fisher More students donned their hiking boots and picked up their favourite books to kick start a new initiative to raise money for new PE facilities at Fisher More.

In glorious Pendle sunshine, Fisher More students set out on a grueling sponsored walk around the local area. Three circuits of the challenging route proved a test for some, but there were many determined faces amongst the red cheeks and sweaty brows. Some pupils came in fancy dress and a number of enthusiastic athletes even ran the route. Whilst muscles strained and lungs gasped outside, for those students who preferred a gentler option, an afternoon of silent reading was enjoyed. The only sound to be heard in the Learning Resource Centre was the soft rustle of pages turning. Outside, with home time fast approaching, the last pupils staggered over the line, safe, sound and smiling.

Organised by Mr Atkin, in the first of many events to raise money for new tennis and netball courts, this wonderful team event raised over £2000 with some money still to be collected. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all pupils, staff, parents and friends of Fisher More for your continued support. Should you wish to help the school's fundraising activities or to become a member of Friends of Fisher More, please contact Mr Atkin at school: atkin.s@fishermore.lancs.sch.uk
