Last weekend, Year 8 pupil Lucy-Belle Williamson attended the Paris Marathon Fleuret International Under 14 fencing tournament. Over 1000 participants competed in two age-specific groups of under 17 and under 14 split male and female.
As a school, we are delighted to announce that Lucy-Belle was placed 7th in this world wide competition. This achievement was by far the best result for Lucy-Belle, over 30 places higher than any other fencer from the UK, the second highest finishing European fencer and all achieved at just 13 years’ of age.
As is the norm for international tournaments, positions 4 – 8 take bronze medals as it is virtually impossible to separate the results. Lucy-Belle is rightly very proud of her medal and her performance and as you can see she had it with her in school today so we could all share in her amazing performance.
Well done and many congratulations, Lucy Belle!.
