Saints John Fisher and Thomas More RC High School is a Voluntary Aided 11-16 Co-Educational Comprehensive School. The original Secondary School was opened in 1960 by the then Bishop of Salford, the Right Reverend George Andrew Beck, AA, BA. It was re-organised in 1973 to serve the needs of all children, boys and girls, who lived in the contributory parishes.
The present accommodation includes 6 new classrooms built in 2010 housing the Maths and MFL departments, four Science Laboratories, spacious well-equipped workshops for Design and Technology, a Music Department, a large Arts complex, Drama Studio, Library, Chapel, Sports Hall and Information Technology area. In addition there are specialist rooms for several other subjects.
The school is controlled by a Board of 20 Governors. Eleven are Foundation Governors appointed by the Diocese, one is appointed by Lancashire Education Authority, three are elected Staff Governors, four are elected Parent Governors and the Headteacher.
At the moment there are 740 pupils on roll. The Governors expect that 155 pupils will be admitted in 2016.
Parents of pupils in their final year at primary school will receive a booklet and a form ADM2 from the Area Education Office giving details of the admission criteria for this school. To assist the Governors in the admissions process there is a supplementary form which asks for further information about the applicant’s faith.
This supplementary form should be returned directly to Fisher More. The form can also be downloaded from this website (see link below). For children at schools other than our feeder primaries it may be helpful to attach further information testifying to the applicant’s faith.

Ss John Fisher and Thomas More RC High School is primarily intended for the education of local Roman Catholic children and parents will be asked to give positive support to the school.
We understand a Roman Catholic child to be one who has been baptised and whose parent(s) or guardian(s) wish to co-operate with the school in the Christian education and practice of their child.
