End of Term Letter
Dear Parents and Carers
As the school year once again comes to a close, I take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of our school. You do this in so many different ways: making sure your children attend well, are punctual, wear the correct uniform, but also supporting school events and fundraising activities. Highlights of the year can be found in greater detail on our website.
Last week, we had our Annual Awards evening that celebrated all the successes of this academic year with over 150 children receiving awards. We are particularly grateful to Mr Matthew Moulding, CEO of The Hut Group and former pupil, who presented the major awards. His company also gave a £20 voucher to each award winner which was a very kind and generous gesture.
This week, we are holding our second fund raising afternoon to raise money to improve school resources and we also have our annual rewards trips to Lightwater Valley or Blackpool Pleasure Beach with the best part of 450 pupils going on these trips.
School closes after our final whole school Mass on Friday morning at 12.30pm. School buses will be available to take pupils home at this time.
If you are buying new uniform over the summer, please make sure you consult the uniform list carefully before doing so as to avoid making costly mistakes. There is also a new PE kit for the new year 7. Full uniform details can be found on our website.
There is currently a consultation taking place with Lancashire County Council about the council’s intention to remove its subsidy for bus travel to faith schools. If this goes ahead the cost will increase from £575 to £800 per child per year. We have provided a suggested letter which parents and carers may use if they would like to respond to this consultation. The letter, which is available on our website, can be accessed by clicking the link below. The final date for the consultation is this Friday, 21st July 2017.
At the end of an academic year, we say goodbye to some colleagues and thank them for their contribution to Fisher More during their teaching time here with us. They are Mr John Kopec who is retiring after 13 years in the technology department. We wish John a long and happy retirement. Miss Helen Naylor is also leaving the English department after three years, having secured a second in department post at Bolton School for Girls.
In September, we welcome back Ms Mia Timberlake and Mr Gavin Farmilo who return to the school after having taught for the past eleven years in Australia and Mrs Natasha Court who joins us from Norden High School. Ms Timberlake and Mrs Court are joining the English department and Mr Farmilo, the maths department.
Without your support, our school wouldn’t be the very special place it is, so once again, thank you. We hope that you continue to support us in this way next year. I take this opportunity to wish you all a restful and relaxing holidays and look forward to welcoming all pupils back at 8.55am on Tuesday 5th September, 2017.
Ms C Hayes, Headteacher
