Let all our bright

YEAR 9 OPTIONS

Your son/daughter is approaching an important stage in their secondary education.  With the beginning of Key Stage 4 only two terms away, it is now necessary for us all to support our Year 9 students as they consider which optional subjects to study.  The amount of choice available is both exciting and daunting; consequently, having access to high quality information, advice and guidance is crucial.  This letter aims to introduce you to the Options process at Ss John Fisher and Thomas More RC High School and the support that we will be offering.

The KS4 Options process started this week with an extended assembly and the issue of a KS4 Options booklet which is also available by clicking on the link below.  Details of all the subjects offered all also linked below.

The key dates for your diary are:

  • Thursday 13 February 2020: Students finish for Spring half term – please discuss appropriate Options with your child during the holiday.  Students must complete the Draft Options Forms during half term and bring them into school upon their return.  The forms should be signed by the parent/carer.
  • Monday 24 February 2020: School re-opens - all Year 9 students will be allocated Individual Advice and Guidance sessions with a school leader within the first two weeks back at school.  During the session the Option Selections will be recorded on the school’s Options system.

Our aim is to complete the Options process by the end of March 2020.

If you have any queries about the Options process, please do not hesitate to contact  Mr Trickett, Associate Deputy Headteacher: trickett.p@fishermore.lancs.sch.uk
