Returning to School 8th March 2021
Date: 24 February 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
You will be aware that a decision has been made by the government to reopen schools from Monday 8th March 2021. In this letter, I will outline how we are going to reopen at Fisher More.
From the 8th March 2021, we will begin our phased return to school so all pupils will not return that day. This phased return will enable us to put into place the necessary testing of the children as they come back to school. The testing is to identify any asymptomatic cases in any of the children. All children will be tested three times over the three-week period leading up to Easter at school. In order to test your child, we will need your consent to do so. These consent forms will be sent out in the next few days for you to complete and return to us outlining whether you want your child to be tested or not. After Easter, testing will be done at home with test kits supplied by school.
We have been asked to prioritise the return of Years 10-11 first so Year 11 will return on Monday 8th March 2021, Year 10 on 9th March 2021, Year 9 10th March 2021 etc. Whilst the children are phasing back, remote learning will still carry on as it has been since the second lockdown.
The pupils will return a teaching group at the time as outlined below:
The pupils will be tested first and then return to their base rooms and start their normal timetables. The packs of materials that the children were using in autumn term have been restocked ahead of their return.
Pupils will now need to wear a mask in the classroom as well as when moving around the school site. We ask you to make sure your child has a suitable mask to wear throughout the whole day. Suitable masks can include surgical masks. We will continue to have a supply of masks in school for any children who forget or mislay their masks.
As outlined in the guidance we have received, all schools are encouraged to maintain their usual uniform policy as uniform can play a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of a school. We are aware that it may be difficult to get some items of uniform due to the closure of non-essential retail but ask you to ensure that your child returns wearing as much of the correct uniform as possible. We are not relaxing our uniform code but are being more practical and realistic in order to facilitate the return of all pupils. We do expect all pupils to be back in full school uniform from after Easter.
Fisher More is a special place to work and study in. This results from the Fisher More Family that exists here made up of the adults and children working together. It is for that reason, we really look forward to the children returning to school, working with them once again to enable them to ‘let all their bright colours shine’ as we emerge from the rather dark times, we have experienced recently, into the light.
