Admissions

Admissions - Year 7 September 2023 Intake

Parents of pupils in their final year (Year 6) of primary school should receive electronic notification from Lancashire County Council regarding applying for a secondary school place.  If you have any concerns regarding applying for a secondary school place, you must contact your child's primary school for assistance.    If you are not resident in the Lancashire/Pendle area then you must apply through your own local authority.   The closing date for applications for a secondary school place is 31 October 2022 - please follow this link to the Lancashire County Council's website  https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/children-education-families/schools/apply-for-a-school-place/

To assist the Governors in the admissions process there is a Supplementary Information Form which asks for further information about the applicant’s faith that relates to the Determined Admission Criteria set by the school.   This form should be completed, signed and returned directly to school before the closing date of 31 October 2022 (please note school is closed for half-term 24 to 28 October and will be unable to accept forms during this time).   The form can also be downloaded from this website.  For children at schools other than our feeder primaries it may be helpful to attach further information testifying to the applicant’s faith.  Please download a copy of the Supplementary Information Form clicking on the link below - please note that this form must be completed and signed by hand                                                  https://www.fishermore.lancs.sch.uk/page/?title=Supplementary+Faith+Form+2023&pid=520

Our Admissions Arrangements for 2022 / 23  can be found by clicking on the following link  https://www.fishermore.lancs.sch.uk/page/?title=Determined+Admission+Criteria+2023%2F24&pid=519

Families who are not successful in securing their chosen secondary school for their child, can opt to be included on a waiting list for Year 7 only which is maintained up to and including 31st December of the year of secondary school admission and /or begin the appeals process.  To apply for a place for current Years 7-11, families are asked to complete an in-year admission form and return this to school alongside a copy of the pupil’s baptism certificate if the pupil is to be considered as Roman Catholic.

Where the school is below the Pupil Admission Number for a particular year group, a place can be offered.

Where the school is on or above the Pupil Admission Number, legally a place cannot be offered and families may choose to begin the appeal process - please see the section 'Appealing For A School Place'.

In Year Admissions

In Year Admissions take place outside the normal admission rounds for a Year 7 place.   If you are new to the area and looking for a school place or you want to move your child from their current local school, you should enquire with the school in the first instance.  Families new to the area should have a definite local address as evidence may be requested, e.g. exchange of contracts or tenancy agreement with rent book AND NOTE other information may be requested by the school. If you have any questions in relation to in-year admissions, please contact us either by email at email@fishermore.lancs.sch.uk or by phone on 01282 865299.                                                                                                                                 We also have a Faith Based Supplementary Information Form that you can complete and submit to school in support of your application. Please see the link below.   You may ring the school office to confirm that the form has been received. Your application will be acknowledged upon receipt and we will advise you of the outcome within a maximum of 15 school days.  Where places are available, but we have more applications than places, the published oversubscription criteria will be applied, to ensure the correct child/children are offered the places.

The Governors will arrange for the child to be admitted where there are available places.   A waiting list is held by the school and you also have the right of appeal.   Please note, the waiting list does NOT guarantee a place at our school and if your child is not in education you should contact Pupil Access : 01254 220747 / email: Pupil.AccessEast@lancashire.gov.uk - further information can be found following this link  https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/children-education-families/schools/apply-for-a-school-place/changing-schools-during-the-school-year/

Appealing For A School Place

Please contact the school office for information and advice about our appeal process.  Children moving into the area will not be considered until there is evidence of a permanent address, e.g. exchange of contracts or tenancy agreement with rent book other information may be requested by the school.    Please note that this right of appeal against the governor's decision does not prevent you from making an appeal in respect of any other school.   Please click on the following link for further information   https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/children-education-families/schools/appeal-against-an-admission-decision/

A copy of your form will be sent to school and a copy will also be sent to the email address you have included on your form for your own records.  If you are unable to fill in an Admissions Appeal form yourself due to a disability or any language barrier you feel may compromise your submission then help is available from the Customer Service Centre who will be able to assist you in filling out the relevant form.   The contact number for the Customer Service Centre is 0300 123 6707.

Please note that both the Contact Centre staff and the School staff are unable to advise you of your submission and the Contact Centre staff are only able to fill the form out on your behalf
