Let all our bright
colours shine.

Reasons for our New Uniform

We feel it is important to share with you the reasons for the introduction of the new uniform this September.

The current uniform has been in place for nearly 50 years, since the 1970s, so the school leadership team, including the governing board, decided it was time for a change. This has included a return to the original blazer colour of purple. Our school’s mission and ethos manifests itself in a line from the school prayer ‘let all our bright colours shine’ and we feel this should be clearly evident on the school logo. ‘Let all our bright colours shine’ relates to our pledge to unearth and develop all the children’s God-given talents as outlined in the Parable of the Talents.

Currently, some of the girls’ skirts are not knee-length, as required by our uniform policy. To ensure all children are safeguarded in their dress and appearance, the new skirts and trousers will only be available from our suppliers. Using these suppliers will ensure that the correct items are worn by all pupils right across the school. Grey trousers are available as an alternative to the plaid skirt, if preferred.

The governing board have been particularly concerned about the spiralling costs of the PE uniform. In this process, we have worked with the suppliers to ensure that there is little difference to the cost of the normal uniform and that the PE uniform is, in fact, less costly.

The new uniform is compulsory for the Year 7 intake in September 2022. All other year groups will have one year’s grace before they are expected to wear it. Pupils in Years 8 to 11 may wear the new uniform this September if they so wish. As always, if any families are experiencing any difficulties with the purchase of specific items of uniform, please contact Mr D Swarbrick, Deputy Headteacher, in the first instance for an informal discussion on what we can do to help. Please email Mr Swarbrick in confidence on the following email address: swarbrick.d@fishermore.lancs.sch.uk

As you are all aware, the school is about to embark on an exciting journey of expansion. As a result, there will be changes to the way Fisher More operates both now and in the future. The new uniform is one of these changes that herald the development of the new school.

Yours sincerely

Ms C Hayes
