Remote Learning Letter

Learning from home for absent pupils self- isolating due to Covid symptoms or for any sickness absence:
In the event of a pupil being absent from school for one of the above reasons, work will be set for them online to help continue with their learning away from Fisher More so that they do not fall behind their peers. School work will be provided with links for most of their curriculum subjects. These will be online tasks and resources provided by their teachers. We are moving to this approach to make it easier for parents and pupils to access the work that they need to be doing whilst absent from school.
In most cases, the work will be a short video and only require a pen/pencil to complete and can be accessed by a mobile phone tablet or laptop/PC. Work should be completed in the yellow books that pupils have in their home learning packs.
The tasks and activities will be published weekly on the school’s website via the ‘Home Learning’ tab on the menu. This will be in a summary PDF (format) document for each year group that will list the subjects with accompanying subject topic description and online links for that week’s work. This will make it accessible for both pupils and parents. Work will closely follow the topic/s that pupils would be learning in school and will be available from the school website at 9am on Monday of each week.
Pupils will be expected to complete the work for all their subjects and bring it in to school when they return. If pupils have any questions about the work then they can attempt to contact their subject teacher via email and the teacher will assist, subject to their teaching timetable commitments back in school.
We would suggest pupils keep to the same routine as they would in school I.e. follow their timetable as best as they can. In other words, at the time that your child would normally have a subject lesson on a set day, then use that time for completing work set in that subject.
