Y6 Summer School 2021. Monday 23 August – Friday 27 August 2021
Dear Parent/Carer
Please take the time to read the following information carefully in regards to our Summer School programmes. A response is required by Thursday 15 July 2021 from anyone who would like a free packed lunch (see further down).
The timetable of activities is attached to the end of this letter. Each child will be allocated a group on the first Monday morning of the Summer School.
Clothing
Pupils are not required to wear school uniform during Summer School, however, they will need the following clothing for specific lessons/trips:
- Sports – appropriate sports clothing and trainers (these sessions will take place both indoors and outdoors)
- Outdoor Elements, Simonstone, BB12 7JD – outdoor trainers, track pants, waterproof jacket, sun lotion, cap. A change of clothing and footwear is advisable in case of bad weather. Students will be outside all day taking part in team building and rope activities, so please ensure they are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions.
Useful telephone numbers
Although the school will have staff in for the duration of the Summer School, it cannot be guaranteed that someone will always be on Reception. Messages can, however, be left on the school answer machine. If a call is urgent, then please contact Mr Atkin on the number below. If your child cannot attend on any day, please report the absence to Mr Atkin using the mobile number or email below.

Lunch
We are able to provide a packed lunch for any student that would like one. This will consist of a sandwich, drink and snack. Alternatively, students are more than welcome to bring their own each day. If your child would like a free packed lunch each day then please inform Mr Atkin on the above email address no later than Thursday 15 July 2021. Please ensure you include your child’s name in the email. No hot lunches will be available.
Dropping off and collecting
Activities begin at 9.30am. However, pupils may be dropped off from 9.00am. Pupils will not be supervised before 9.00am. Pupils should come to the Dining Room doors each morning. All pupils are to be collected or make their own way home at 3.30pm.
Please note: your child will need to be in school by 8.45am on the Outdoor Element day as we are travelling by coach to Simonstone. They will know which day they will going when they are allocated a group on the first Monday of the Summer School. We will return to school at 3.30pm.
I hope your child thoroughly enjoys the experience that Summer School brings, as well as using the opportunity to familiarise themselves with their new surroundings, and that he/she establishes many new friendships before the beginning of the new academic year.
Yours faithfully
Mr S Atkin
