Teacher Assessment Grades 2021
In this academic year, all of our year 11 pupils will receive grades determined by their teachers. For GCSE’s, teachers will use a range of evidence to assess pupils, including classwork, tests and exam-board set tasks. For BTEC’s and other vocational qualifications, there will be a similar approach, using exams and non-exam assessments that have already been completed along with work completed before the lock-down and after the return to school. Please be reassured that students will only be assessed on what they have been taught.
Grades will be submitted to exam boards no later than Friday 18th June 2021. There will be a Results Day in the summer which has been moved forward to Thursday 12th August 2021. Every pupil will have the right to appeal their grade in a particular subject. The details of what constitutes grounds for appeal, and the process of appeal, will be released to schools in due course and will be shared with pupils and parents. As a school, we recognise that this has been a period of great uncertainty for pupils but can reassure you that we are fully committed to helping them to achieve the grades they truly deserve.
We urge all pupils to remain fully engaged and to submit work to their teachers so that we can provide all the necessary evidence to exam boards as required.
As with the process last summer, teachers will not be able to discuss, or share, their final assessed grades with pupils or parents. If you were unable to attend the most recent Zoom meeting regarding centre assessed grades but would like access to an audio recording of the session, or if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with myself at Swarbrick.email@example.com
