Year 6 Transition
Your child will be fully supported in all aspects of their learning by the staff at Fisher More.
We have a dedicated team of non-teaching pastoral staff, led by two very experienced assistant headteachers. The team will work with you to ensure that your child is happy and making good progress.
They will be your first port of call if you have any questions or concerns. We pride ourselves in ensuring that our care, guidance and support of pupils is second to none.
Fisher More is proud of its primary/secondary transition programme. We gain our intake from five main feeder Catholic schools plus approximately 30 additional primary schools within the local area and the school continues to be oversubscribed. The transition programme is led by Mrs Frost, Head of Year 7.
We believe that a strong transition programme based on excellent communication with all relevant stakeholders, (primary schools, parents, pupils) is essential if pupils are to enter our school fully prepared, happy and ready for all their bright colours to shine. Mrs Frost and our Learning Support team work closely with our feeder primary schools to ensure that all students have the individualised support they need to make a successful transition. There will be numerous opportunities for prospective students to visit the school and to take part in Transition activities with their Primary schools. In addition to this we run a very successful summer school which has had fantastic feedback from parents and students alike and plays an enormous part in helping students to settle into life at Fisher More.
Whilst the transition from primary to secondary school is an exciting time, we understand that it can also be an anxious time, particularly with additional challenges the COVID-19 Pandemic has raised. To address this, in PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education) lessons, students will be participating in the ‘Bounce Forward’ programme delivered by Lancashire Mind. This promotes resilience and wellbeing and helps students to understand and manage their emotions. In addition to this, we will of course, be as supportive as possible of both students and parents/carers. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions or concerns.
