Year 6 Transition
Fisher More is proud of its primary/secondary transition programme. The school continues to be massively oversubscribed, we gain our intake from five main feeder Catholic schools plus approximately 30 additional primary schools within the local area. The transition programme is led by Mr Crabtree, Director of Progress for Years 6 and 7.
We believe that a strong transition programme based on excellent communication with all relevant stakeholders, (primary schools, parents, pupils) is essential if pupils are to enter our school fully prepared, happy and ready for all their bright colours to shine. The transition programme is led by Mr Crabtree, Director of Progress for Years 6 and 7. Take a look below at what is on offer this year as part of our virtual open events for Year 6.
Should you require further information regarding transition please contact Mrs J Beechey, Pastoral Manager on 01282 865299
Important Dates for Transition 2021
Monday 7 June 2021 to Friday 18 June 2021 – Visits with Primary Schools
The Pastoral Team at Fisher More will arrange to visit the primary schools during this two-week period. This will give pupils a chance to meet with Mr Crabtree and some of our current Year 7 pupils to ask any questions they may have about their transition and journey to high school.
If this is not possible due to restrictions, then alternative virtual opportunities will be arranged.
Thursday 24 June 2021 – Year 6 Taster Day and Transition Resources available on School Website
Pupils will have the opportunity to visit school to take part in a ‘roundabout’ of lessons and experience the various subject departments. There will be a variety of exciting activities and lessons planned throughout the day which will give Year 6 pupils a real taster of what to expect when they start Year 7 in September.
During this week, we will also be uploading information to our website for parents/carers and resources that schools can use with Year 6 in class. The uploads will include welcome letters to Year 6 from Mr Crabtree and Year 7 pupils, Mr Crabtree’s ‘Preparing for Fisher More’ presentation and a selection of short introduction videos from each department in school.
We will also be offering an opportunity for parents to attend our Information Evening in school. During the evening Mr Crabtree and Mr Swarbrick will present the plan for pupils starting school in September and be available to speak directly with parents and carers. There will be two presentations during the evening, which will need to be pre-booked. More information will be provided in due course.
Monday 5 July 2021 to Friday 16 July 2021 – Pastoral Team Contact
During this two-week period from Monday 5 July 2021, pastoral team members and form tutors from Fisher More will be in contact with parents, carers and pupils to introduce themselves before meeting in September.
Monday 23 August 2021 – Summer School
We are pleased to announce that we will also be running a Summer School for Year 6 from 23 August 2021 for a week where pupils will have the opportunity to visit each faculty in school and take part in fun activities and challenges, whilst getting to know other pupils before joining our school community in September. More information about this and details of how to reserve a place will be provided to primary schools over the next few weeks.
